Latest News / Scholarship recipients visit Infratec offices

It was a pleasure to welcome three recipients of the Infratec Scholarship for Māori, Pasifika and Women in Renewable Energy Systems Engineering — Huia, Mariah and Jane — to our Wellington office on Wednesday.

They shared thoughtful reflections on their studies so far, what drew them to renewable energy, and the impact they hope to make in the sector. We were also fortunate to be joined by Professor Alan Brent, Chair of Renewable Energy Systems at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, who gave an overview of the programme and further study options available for emerging engineers.

Our Infratec leadership team spoke about who we are as a company, the work we’re delivering in Aotearoa, and the exciting pathways ahead for young people entering the renewable energy industry. We also reflected on the need for diverse perspectives shaping Aotearoa’s clean energy future — to ensure it’s one that truly benefits all our communities.

Now in its fifth year, the Infratec Scholarship continues to be a highlight on our calendar. Meeting such talented, motivated rangatahi today was energising, and we look forward to supporting their journeys as they continue their studies and join us for internships over the coming years.

Ngā mihi to Huia, Mariah and Jane — we’re excited to see where your passion takes you.
