Latest News / Switching on the power at Taiohi Solar Farm

We’re excited to share that our 33 MWp Taiohi Solar Farm is now fully operational!

Our delivery team have been working hard to get Taiohi – located in Rangiriri, just north of Hamilton – up and running. Now that the solar farm is fully commissioned its 47,000 solar panels are ready to provide renewable generation capacity to strengthen supply resilience across the Waikato.

The name Taiohi, meaning youthful, was gifted by mana whenua, recognising the shared commitment to a future built on clean energy and partnership. We are grateful to Maurea Marae for their support and collaboration throughout this project, and NewPower Energy looks forward to upholding this close relationship throughout the lifetime of this solar farm.

Construction of Taiohi was led by Infratec NZ, and supported by Feisst Electrical, Trilect Solar and PGS Profab Limited. The site will be owned and operated by our sister company NewPower Energy. A huge thanks to everyone who has put in the hard mahi to make this project a reality – from development to construction to commissioning.
