Kohirā Solar Farm, Kaitāia
In the Far North, approximately 7km from Kaitāia, Kohirā is Aotearoa’s first utility-scale solar farm to
supply the national grid. Lodestone’s Kohirā solar farm, with 33MWDC/24MWAC capacity, first started generating in 2023.
The project allows livestock to graze under the shade of the more than 61,000 solar panels.
Construction brought together local iwi, communities and construction partners, to produce an estimated 55GWh a year, and plant 7ha of new native forest. Infratec is the bespoke EPC contractor for Lodestone Energy.
